The consultation is where everything starts. It is free, there is no obligation, and it is how we make sure your project begins with a clear shared understanding of what you want and what it will take to deliver it.

How the Consultation Works
A BuiltWell consultation is an in-person visit to your home or a video call via Google Meet or Zoom, your choice, during which we assess your space, discuss your goals, and answer every question you have before any work is scoped or priced.
Here is what to expect, step by step:
Step 1: Contact us by phone or through the contact form at /contact/. Tell us what you're working on and where you're located in Connecticut.
Step 2: We schedule a time. You choose whether you'd prefer an on-site visit or a video call via Google Meet or Zoom. Both are equally available.
Step 3: During the consultation, we discuss your goals for the project, assess the space in person or review photos and video you share remotely, and answer every question you have. We look at existing conditions that affect scope: plumbing locations, electrical capacity, subfloor and wall construction, moisture, ceiling heights, and anything else relevant to the type of work you're considering. We don't rush the consultation.
Step 4: After the consultation, we prepare a detailed written estimate covering scope, materials, timeline, and cost. Most estimates are delivered within 3 to 5 business days.
Step 5: You review the estimate. If you'd like to move forward, we schedule the next step. If you need time or decide not to proceed, there is no pressure in either direction. The estimate is yours to keep.
What to Expect From Your Estimate
The written estimate covers scope, materials, timeline, and total cost. No vague ranges, no line items that say only "labor" with a number next to them.
A BuiltWell estimate includes:
- Itemized scope of work: what is included and what is explicitly excluded, written in plain terms
- Material specifications: the specific products, categories, and grades included so you can verify what you're getting
- Timeline: start date, construction duration, and any lead times that affect scheduling, such as custom cabinet orders
- Total cost: the full project cost as proposed, including all permits, labor, and materials
The estimate is fixed at what is written. If something changes during the project, we discuss it with you before proceeding and document it in a written change order with a specific cost and time impact. You don't get handed a surprise invoice at the end.
